Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Prescription Medication, and Weight Loss

In June of 2001, a little more than two and one half years after my last child was born, I was suddenly starting to feel joint and muscle pain that I had never experienced before. I thought (as usual), maybe it had something to do with the Lupus, yet I was drowning my pain with Arthritis Tylenol. Weeks went by and I could only walk like a mummy, one step at a time and not being able to look to the side. Tears would roll down my face in such despair when finally I couldn’t take it any longer. My doctor again ran some tests and put me on a prednisone pack for six days, (he had studied my case a year before this incident and felt that I did not have all the criteria for Lupus) voila!! the prednisone was magic. It stopped the pain immediately. Four days after the six-day prelone pack was completed, I had a physical with our family doctor.

To make a long story short, my rheumatologist could not wean me off of the cortisone and there I was, 20 lbs. heavier in just over a month and an official diagnosis of Fibromyalgia; which by the way, is medically treated exactly as if I were a Lupus patient, cortisone, cortisone, and more cortisone. I was at the end of my rope, especially when I heard that my being overweight only aggravated the Fibromyalgia. Now did you hear what I heard???!!! So how was I to ever rid myself of the illness taking cortisone which was adding to my weight???? Exactly - catch 22!

I called the Vibrant Health System in August of 2002. When I had any questions I would immediately call the Vibrant Health Personal Trainer and they would waste no time. They coached me through the entire thing. Angels sent from heaven!! In just a month and a half, I must say that I was a new person. I have a VHI of 86 up from my initial one of 36 and I am 15 pounds lighter, and that’s not even on the Fat to Lean program - that was just in trying to get my health back to normal. AMEN!!!!!!!!! But the most important thing is that I no longer take any pharmaceuticals; I am hooked on neutraceuticals! Thank you, Dr. Tucker for allowing the Lord to use you in a mighty way, teaching us to take better care of our bodies until we go HOME and receive our glorified one!!!!!!!!!
